The Pay-Per-View Series: The Butt
Cory Danziger, 2025
As a teenager, in my spare time, I liked to try and catch a peek of adult films through the scrambled stations on Pay-Per-View. The imagery was nearly impossible to make out, but it didn't stop me from trying. An occasional breast or butt could be made out through the wavy lines.
What I realized in recent years is that these were some of my first exposures to abstract art. The imagery on these blocked channels were a weird fusion of digital noise and fragments of the human body. These scrambled channels were exciting and made me use my imagination.
In this series, I tried to recreate the memories into abstract works of art that reflect what these blocked channels looked like. It's nostalgia art. Reminiscent of the quiet time I had before the Internet, when my folks weren't around and I was left to my own devices.
Each piece measure 20"x 15" on Archival Paper. All are signed by artist Cory Danziger.
