Da Vinci + Danziger Collaborative Works:
Mona Lisa Redux
Working with Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa image, I gave myself the task of modernizing and stylizing the work through silkscreen, collage and paint. In the 9 different pieces I completed, I sought to showcase the whirlwind of contradictory messages that women in American society are facing. And yet, despite these mixed messages and signals, many are able to find the strength to smile and persevere.
To me, inverting the image symbolized a “beautiful woman looking inward.”
There are 9 different Mona Lisa collaborative pieces. Each is one-of-a-kind. All measure 20”x 30” on archival paper. Each is individually signed.
