P.W. HERMAN

The passing of Paul Reubens was a big loss across the planet.  It was a massive loss to me, as I loved the character Reubens created and portrayed, Pee Wee Herman.  I wanted to do something to honor the character and something, personally, that I could put up in my own home.  So I started thinking about a tribute piece to honor him.

 

Pee Wee was about fun and imagination.  And Pee Wee Herman wanted to be a man of mystery…a James Bond-like character.  From his interactions with Dotty in the film to the way he was portrayed by James Brolin at the end of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Pee Wee's imaginary alter-ego was P.W. Herman, an action star.

 

That’s why I decided to create art with Pee Wee as P.W. and utilized the visual backbones of James Bond through the years in doing so.  

 

So here’s a virtual toast to the “loner, the rebel.” P.W. Herman. Rest in Peace.  We miss you down here Pee Wee.
